Agia Irinis Square is the heart of this region which stretches parallel to Ermou Street. Also interesting is the namesake church Agia Irinis Church.


Turn right into Skouze Street and Agias Irinis Square

Now you have reached the Agias Irinis Square with the impressive Agias Irini Church (Aiolou Street 36). The square used to be home to the flower market of Athens but all exept 1 or 2 have disappeared as have many of the other shops on the square and surrounding streets.


Turn left to Aiolou Street

Aiolou Street is another commercial street in the center, most of it is a pedestrian precinct. Here you can find beautiful fabrics, household items and clothes of every kind or souvenirs of the city.


Agia Irini Church

Agia Irini Church (Aiolou Street 36) was built from the ruins of more than 70 older Byzantine churches and parts of old remains of the Acropolis. It  is well known for its devout atmosphere during the laudations of the Christmas or Easter holidays.


Loukoumades

At this place we recommend to have an original greek sweetness. You won't forget them so quickly. Loukoumades are Greek donuts, which are served warm, preferably with honey. The team of Loukoumades (Aiolou Street 21) has different variations to offer, each of them is a dream.


Turn left to Ermou Street

Now we are back on Ermou Street, the main shopping street of Athens. In front of us you can see the Kapnikareas Square with one of the oldest churches in Athens. Kapnikarea Church was built in the 11th Century on the ruins of another more primitive chapel.


H&M Store at neoclassical building

The H&M Store (Ermou Street 54) is located in an impressive neoclassical building - a real masterpiece! You will find classical architecture with beautiful ornate colums, modern drawings in the wall and the caged displays that are used to display current colour stories and the palatial lighting.
