On the premise that no trait is inherently derogatory,
but that its negative reception is a result of social processes, at
this year's symposium on art and health, the 2nd Health Region of Piraeus and the Aegean cooperates with distinguished artists and organizes, among other things, in the emblematic spaces of the Psychiatric Hospital of Attica "Dromokaiteio" a group exhibition entitled "Stigma" curated by Alexandros Kassandrinos and Konstantinou Kantarzis.

The exhibition aims to explore how social class, gender, ethnicity, skin colour, sexual orientation, ability, health, appearance, burdened present or past
they weave the framework within which some people are deemed not to meet the basic rules of social existence. Their distinguishing feature becomes a decisive element in the construction of their identity, a "worn" identity, which places them in the category of "something less than human".

The visual artists will have an artistic conversation with the health workers of the 2nd
H.P. and patients of its two largest Psychiatric Hospitals
Territories, whose difference from the "normal" entails their stigmatization and possibly their marginalization.

In parallel with the visual part, workshops are organized with the
participation of academics, researchers, scientists. The specific actions are planned for the period from 10 to 29 October 2023.
