Costas Emmanuilidis presents his first solo exhibition at the Batagianni gallery, entitled Aquascaping.

The works of the exhibition refer to the world of the aquarium, which however lurks without having a descriptive presence. What arouses his interest is the process of the microcosm and what it contains. The artist himself gets inspiration for his works from internet photos, which he uses as a starting point to create the work without making any use of copying. The visual artist processes most of the works in this exhibition without using traditional artistic media. Small interventions with airbrush, acrylics and markers coexist.

Emmanuilidis belongs to the generation of the digital revolution that was nurtured with the new electronic multimedia. He uses digital airbrushing to design and complete his works and all images are a result of this processing. His electronic tablet transforms into a modern brush and palette. For this aquatic world, he is inspired by video games, lego, as well as the search for the role of a game through which he manages his invented images.

Kostas Emmanouilidis was born in Cologne in 1978. He studied law at the Athens University of Law (1998-2003) and is a graduate of ASKT (2003-2009). He has participated in many group exhibitions under the supervision of Nikos Charalambidis. Edited the design of the catalog of the artist Nikos Charalambidis on the occasion of the individual exhibition at the Center Pompidou (2008), Tupperware Project, Ledra Barricade, Center Pompidou (2008), etc.
