5 albums and 13 years after her debut The Garden of Rila (2009) which caused a sensation in Greece and abroad with its special mix of folk and jazz elements, Martha Mavroidis comes as a guest of the Jazz Chronicles series to introduce her new quartet .

At the time she was called a "rising star of Balkan music". Following her career, she traveled to Greece, Europe and the USA, collaborated with names such as Savvina Giannatou and Eliza Carthy, while she also directs the traditional choir Rodia.

In the new composition of her quartet, she collaborates with three other musicians who come from the wider field of improvisational music, with whom they compose a special sound that combines the aroma of the Balkans and the Middle East with the modality of the Eastern Mediterranean and jazz harmonies.

Somewhere between East and West, traditional and contemporary music, piano-double bass-drums-electric lute and Mavroide's voice constitute a special, unique proposal without geographical barriers and sound prejudices.

The quartet consists of Yiannis Papadopoulos [piano], Giorgos Ventouris [double bass], Dimitris Klonis [drums] and Martha Mavroides [voice and electric lute].
