Description

The Agricultural University of Athens originated from the evolution of the Higher Agricultural School of Athens and its history fundamentally began from January 14, 1920 with the announcement of Law 1884 for the creation of the Higher Agricultural School in Athens (as it was originally named). The School was built on the Rouf National Estate, on the section which today holds the University at Botanico. Since 1888, this estate housed one of the 3 Schools of Farming by the Triantaphyllidis Fund has a 3 year enrolment (another School is at Tiryntha and a third at Thessalia). The School was inaugurated on February 3, 1920 and its first Dean was the "Apostle of the Idea of Farming" in Greece, Agriculturist, Spiridon Hasiotis.
