Description

The Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (Greek: Ελληνική Ραδιοφωνία Τηλεόραση) a.k.a. ERT (ΕΡΤ), the radio and television broadcaster for Greece, commenced airing in 1938 as the Radio Broadcasting Service. The State-owned public television company operates 3 national networks. ERT1, the flagship television channel, was launched in 1966. Amid controversy, the government shut it down in 2013, when it was chiefly a cultural channel but also broadcast documentaries (with collaborations such as with the BBC), news, sports, and children's shows. On June 11th, 2015, ERT was restored and apportioned into ERT1, ERT2, and ERT3. These channels' programming is focused on that of a generalistic TV network, further enriched with talk shows, popular foreign movies & TV series, and a variety of cultural programs. Highly popular in their online sector is the catchily named "ERTFLIX.GR".
