In Thissio there is quite a number of Galleries that offer exhibitions and scheduled workshops ranging from photography and contemporary art to writing
The Herakleidon Experience in Visual Arts offers wonderful exhibitions to it's visitors. On Eptachalkou Street, housed in a neoclassical building, is the Bernier-Eliades gallery, devoted to promoting contemporary art in Greece. It features contemporary artists whose work is frequently provocative, including Tony Oursler, Nikos Navridis and, British artists Gilbert and George.
An establishment that calls itself, «a theater for the arts», Thission Theater, provides quality cultural performances during the months of October through March in the evening hours.
At the last leg of the area we call Thissio, is the Ieros Naos (Church) of Agios Marnis and the oldest outdoor movie theater in Athens, Cine Thission. Located directly below the Acropolis since 1935, this venue, surrounded by greenery and love, has been heralded by CNN as: «The greatest outdoor movie theater of the world.
Notably, the owners tell us that there is no definitive closing date for the winter months. They state: «As long as the weather blesses us and the people request it, we remain open!».
