Kolonaki

The area of Kolonaki is located north-east of Syntagma Square. Its name is derived from the Greek word «Κολωνάκι», meaning "Little Column" – which is a 2 meter column actually found in the main square.

Most Athenians come here to have a cup of coffee or go shopping for luxury items during the afternoon, in the famous Kolonaki Square. The stores in this area are some of the most stylish and expensive in Athens. Famous museums and galleries also flourish in this area. During the evening hours, enjoy Mediterranean cuisine at a number of fine dining establishments. Later, the bars and clubs of Kolonaki invite you to mingle with celebrities and dance until the early morning hours.

People watching and gossip abounds, while you feel like a part of the elite. Former Prime Ministers and many other politicians call Kolonaki their home, as well as artists, leading performers and fashionistas. The area is very well kept and when visiting… try to dress your best!
