The Blender Gallery presents the solo exhibition of Alexis Avlamis entitled "Transitions".
Alexis Avlamis, working for a year in his workshop in Kefalonia, paints again with the ancient technique of encaustic on wood, with a favorite material as the protagonist: the alchemical beeswax.
The catalyst of the technique is heat, the dynamic balance between "fire and ice", a phenomenon that incorporates contrasts such as solid or fluid, flat or embossed, controlled or unpredictable. The images speak of transformations, the ecosystem, the relationship with the Self and praise the woman thanks to whom the adventure of life continues.
Dora Markatou, Art Historian, former Associate Professor at the University of Ioannina writes, among other things, about Avlamis:
