The contemporary architecture body DOMa, continuing its series of lectures by distinguished architects, presents Florian Idenburg, co-founder with Jing Liu of the New York office SO-IL in a lecture that will take place in the atrium of the Benaki Museum.

SO – IL or Solid Objectives – Idenburg Liu was founded in 2008 by Florian Idenburg (1975, Netherlands) and Jing Liu (1980, China) in Brooklyn, New York. From 2013 to 2018, the office also had a third partner, Ilias Papageorgiou (1980, Greece).

Idenburg and Liu met in 2000 at SANAA in Japan. They met again in 2002 in New York, when Idenburg, on behalf of SANAA, was overseeing the implementation of the New Museum and Liu was working in Thomas Leeser's studio.

In 2010, they won the MoMA PS1 Young Architects with their interactive installation Pole Dance. They then completed a residence for designer Ivan Chermayeff in upstate New York, the installation for the magazine's Frieze New York exhibition of the same name, and the award-winning Kukje Gallery in Seoul. In 2013 they won the competition for the new Jan Shrem & Maria Manetti Shrem Art Museum in California, with their proposal including a 50,000m2 permeable roof. The Museum was realized in 2016. In the same year, Las Americas, a social housing complex in León, Mexico, was also realized. Finally, in 2021 they completed the Amant Art Campus, an arts research center that spans three city blocks in Brooklyn, New York, and was presented at DOMa 03.
