The piano-guitar duo David Magnussen- Dimitris Kotronakis will present a program for both instruments, with Beethoven's iconic Große Fuge, op.134 as its main focus.
The arrangement of Beethoven's most enigmatic work for piano and guitar will be played for the first time in the most historic concert hall of Athens, the hall of the Philological Association "Parnassos". (The work is originally written for string quartet, Op.133 arranged by the composer for piano 4 hands, op.134). Original musical works from the classical and contemporary repertoire of Manuel Maria Ponce, Mauro Giuliani, Hendrik Hofmeyr will also be presented, as well as works specially written and dedicated to the duo, by Sokratis Georgiadis and Akis Filio.
Dimitris Kotronakis is a guitarist and musicologist, with solo activity in Europe, the USA and China, researcher at the Laboratory of Ethnomusicology and Cultural Anthropology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. David Lau Magnussen is a pianist and organist, president of the Beethoven Society of Denmark and ambassador for Bechstein pianos worldwide.
