An exhibition that combines tradition with a modern visual perspective is presented by the Municipality of Athens at the Museum of Folk Art and Tradition "Aggeliki Hatzimichalis", from July 14 to October 8, 2023.

The exhibition entitled "Traditional Lefkada needlework and contemporary art
creation", co-organized by the Organization for Culture, Sports and
Youth of the Municipality of Athens (OPANDA) and the Spiritual Center of the Municipality
of Lefkada.

The presentation is divided into two sections, which are developed in
museum spaces with permanent collections of folk art objects. The choice of the Museum of Folk Art and Tradition "Angeliki Hatzimichalis" of the Municipality of Athens highlights in an excellent way the fruitful dialogue that is created between embroidery with visual works and permanent collections, as a branch of art of Greek folk culture is used in an inspiring way in the modern world .

Also, the exhibition will emphasize the innovative, sustainable and integrated proposals from young people who are active in the fields of jewelry, clothing, footwear, interior design, etc., who, with respect for tradition, manage to reintegrate it into modern everyday life.
