The Technochoros art gallery presents at Art Project Space (Falirou 66, Koukaki), the retrospective sculpture exhibition of Vassilis Nikolaos entitled "Bodies of Matter, Spirit and Time" with works from 1982 to 2023.

Vassilis Nikolaou creates figures with an underlying movement even if they are characterized by monumentality, which makes them completely special. Using stone, plaster and brass as basic materials, he sculpts "alive" bodies that speak to the viewer with their body posture, expressing their emotions. The artist's goal is for the sculptures to harmonize with the space in which they are located so as to evoke in the viewer the possibility of identification and communication. They are essentially autonomous figures with personal experiences and real feelings.

The artist himself says about his works:
"Through my works, my evolutionary path is also marked. With the figures that vary in size, but also with the materials and techniques I use, I try to make the artistic result result in an effortless plasticity."

Brief CV:
Vassilis Nikolaou was born in Ioannina in 1957. He studied Drawing and Painting at the School of Fine Arts (1977-1983) with professor Dimitris Mytaras and Lefteris Kanakakis. Sculpture with professor Giorgos Nikolaidis and Theodoros Papagiannis. At the same time, he attended the special workshops of the school of plasterwork, copper casting with professors
Th. Vassilopoulos and N. Kerlis as well as the marble workshops with professor N. Paraskevas. Also the courses of theoretical studies history of Art, history of Architecture and rhythmology, introduction to Aesthetics, the theory of Art and Philosophy and Educational Psychology and teaching. In 1986-2021 he taught the Visual Arts course in Secondary Education. In 1996 he held a solo sculpture exhibition at the "Astrolabos - Piraeus" Art Gallery. His works are in private collections in Greece and abroad. He lives and works in Athens.
