Zoumboulakis Gallery presents the new solo exhibition of Filippos Theodoridis "Misremembered memories". Paintings of various dimensions will be presented.

Alkistis Tsambouraki notes in the catalog text: "In his new exhibition, Theodoridis approaches painting as a physical construction, focusing on the idea of structure. Patterns, grids and lines appear in various sizes and color palettes. Large surfaces of intense color are dynamically interrupted by white sections. The artist has developed a wide range of color tones, drawing inspiration from urban life and the motifs that compose it. Within his richly colored canvases, we can truly immerse ourselves in the skyline of a modern metropolis or envision the view from his studio in Monastiraki and the shadows created by the buildings that surround it.

In this new body of work, random drips and splatters of materials become an integral part of the work, while each element is carefully considered, placed in just the most ideal position, the right size and the right angle. Everything is revealed here: the artist's refined iconography, his sense of humor, his constant struggle between representation and abstraction, between instinctive and meticulous composition. Theodorides integrates visual symbols such as the circle – drawn directly onto the canvas from the outline of his drums – with other entities such as abstract letters or body parts that communicate complex ideas with a refreshing simplicity. His arrangement of colorful figures and concentric circles becomes at once an archetypal image and a dynamic composition that communicates the artist's deep desire to become familiar with the ordinary: with the urban view of Athens from his studio, with images of half-destroyed posters, with the shadows of the buildings and the ancient Greek symbols".
