How can a genius 21st century musician bring one of the oldest musical instruments in history back to life? Matthais Kuhn, after first thoroughly mastering the technique of Pana's flute, set out to build a repertoire specially written for the instrument, commissioning works from composers of our time. To date, he has presented over three hundred works in various combinations: solo, duo, trio, for chamber music ensembles, with church organ accompaniment, and even with an orchestra.

The concert begins with a short presentation of the instrument, a unique opportunity for the audience to enter the depths of Pana's flute technique, with the help of a musician who knows its secrets as well as anyone. The program includes works such as Bach's famous Bandinerie and recent compositions written for Kounet himself (composers include the Greek Kalliopi Tsoupakis and the Cypriot Evies Sammoutis), to the stirring Song of Songs by Mikis Theodorakis. A charming kaleidoscope of magical sounds that take us back centuries and at the same time open hidden doors to the future.
