Ross Daly returns to the Roes Theater in Gazi on Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th November teaming up with Kelly Thomas on lyre and Şakir Ozan Uygan on percussion, creating the Ross Daly Trio!
Ross Daly and Kelly Thomas are a completely unique duo. A central place in their musical world is the lyre, an instrument found in many musical traditions of the Balkans and the Eastern Mediterranean, and of course in Crete where they have lived for many years. The music played by Ross Daly and Kelly Thomas, however, does not belong to any particular local or national tradition. It includes a rich range of influences from many different timeless tropical traditions that blend harmoniously into a new genre and sound that Ross Daly himself calls Contemporary Tropical Music. This genre, however, bears little resemblance to what we usually imagine when we say contemporary music. The sound of this music is somewhere outside of fixed time where it oscillates between primal sounds of the distant past and sounds from the future.
Şakir Ozan Uygan will join them on percussion in the concerts they will give at the Roes Theater in Gazi.
