ATHENS SHOPPING TOUR

Brief description:
Possibly the most graphic scenery is on this walk.

Starting point:
Omonia Square

Ending point:
Thisio Metro Station

Approach distance:
1.300 m

Ideal time:
Workday morning.

--------------------

Course:
From Omonia, get onto Athinas Street and, after passing the Town Hall of Athens (on your right), directly across from Kotzia Square, turn left onto Sofokleous Street. Afterwards, going right on Filopoimenos Road gets you just behind the Central Market of Athens, where it is a must to go in and view the vendors of meat, fresh fish, fruits and vegetables.

Doubling back through the Central Market, you will have returned to Filopoimenos, where you will meet Evripidou Street (where the aroma of spices and herbs from the Far East will tickle your nose), turn right and then left onto the cross section of Athinas. From there on, Athinas Street blesses you with it graphic beauty and great selection of stores for both visitors and locals.

At the end of Athinas, turn right onto Ermou and then left onto Avissynias Street. That is where the heart of Monastiraki beats. Turn right on Hephaestus Street and make a quick turn right onto Astiggos Road to find Ermou Street again. If you turn left immediately after, onto Thisio Street, you will soon find Adrianou Street in front of you and the Metro tracks, of which you will follow on the right-hand side until you reach the Thisio Metro Station.
