Comedy Opera in Two Acts.

The highly successful National Opera production (2013/14) is being revived in Olympia for four performances, with an excellent cast of performers. With his unsurpassed musical acumen, Rossini composes a delightful comic opera, full of humor and twists. The plot is based on "Cinderella" by Charles Perrault, but the libretto by Jacopo Ferretti adapts the story to the era in which the opera was written. The original direction of Rodoula Gaitanou takes the action to the microcosm of an off Broadway theater in New York, in the 1930s, during the "Great Depression" and the financial crash. Thus, the story is modernized in order to highlight social and moral concerns in a place and time that is closer to the references of today's viewer.
