The Breeder gallery presents the in situ installation of Panos Profitis entitled Comedy/Comoedia.
As a prelude to his upcoming exhibition at the gallery in September 2023, the Prophet transforms one of the building's atriums into a contemporary "purgatory" that converses with that of Dante, in The Divine Comedy, and hosts the sculpture titled "Herald."
The work represents the earthly experience of every human being. Drawing inspiration from the universe of theater and narrative poetry, Dante's Divine Comedy, the Aristophanic work, but also from Gustave Doré's engravings, religious art, utopian philosophy (Thomas More, Lewis Mumford, Adorno), up to and including Brecht's comic allusions, raises reflections on the role of the creator and the inner conflict he experiences.
