Kalfayan Galleries presents Raed Yassin's solo exhibition entitled 'Theatricality of a Postponed Death'.

After the innovative rock musical with stuffed animals "The Sea Between My Soul" at the Onassis Foundation Roof, the Lebanese artist Raed Yassin returns to Athens with another pioneering solo exhibition.

Reflecting the artist's well-known caustic humour, the exhibition raises key questions about war and grief, trial and failure, the role of art in times of turmoil, the personal and socio-political impact of art censorship.

On display are objects from the artist's performance in Graz, Austria in 2022, such as the inflatable Shushu balloon, giant head mask sculptures based on the portraits of the theater troupe. Additional archival material from the performance is also displayed in a museum-style exhibition, highlighting the power of these objects as remnants of a ritual that once occurred, like a funeral. By removing them from their original context, these objects are now transformed into new 'subjects', into new subjects-works of art for someone to look closely at and through them a different future with a variety of new possibilities is captured.
