Robert Wilson exhibition "Owls and Chairs"

About

Bernier/Eliades Gallery presents the solo exhibition "Owls and Chairs" by Robert Wilson It is the artist's fourth solo exhibition at the gallery.

On this occasion, Robert Wilson will create an environment representing designs from the production of 1998 "The White Raven", 1999 "THE DAYS BEFORE: death, destruction & detroit III" and 2006 "KOOL".
As in his work on stage, Wilson will transform the gallery into a space for the imagination, challenging the viewer to approach the experience associatively.

Born in Waco, Texas, Wilson ranks among the world's foremost theater and visual artists. His works for the stage incorporate a wide variety of artistic media, including dance, movement, lighting, sculpture, music and text. His images are aesthetically striking and emotionally charged, and his productions have won the acclaim of audiences and critics worldwide.

Wilson's drawings, paintings and sculptures have been presented worldwide in hundreds of solo and group exhibitions, and his works are in private collections and museums around the world.
After studying at the University of Texas and Brooklyn's Pratt Institute, Wilson founded the New York performance collective "The Byrd Hoffman School of Byrds" in the mid-1960s and developed his signature early works such as Deafman Glance (1970) and A Letter for Queen Victoria (1974-1975).
With Philip Glass he wrote the seminal opera Einstein on the Beach (1976).
Wilson's artistic collaborators include many writers and musicians, including Heiner Müller, Tom Waits, Susan Sontag, Laurie Anderson, William Burroughs, Lou Reed, Jessye Norman and Anna Calvi. He has also left his mark on masterpieces such as: Krapp's Last Tape, Samuel Beckett's, Pentara's Opera, Bertolt Brecht's, Pelleas and Melissani, Claude Debussy's, Faust, Goethe's, Odyssey, Homer, The Myths, Jean de la Fontaine, Madame Butterfly by Giacomo Puccini, La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi and Oedipus by Sophocles.
Wilson has been honored with numerous awards of excellence, including a Pulitzer Prize nomination, two Premio Ubu awards, the Golden Lion of the Venice Biennale, and an Olivier Award.
