About

At the Radisson Blu Park Hotel, Athens - as part of the "Contemporary Greek Art" tribute - organized for the 7th year and curated by the art historian Eleni Athanassiou, works by the visual artist Savvas Georgiadis entitled "Faces" are presented.

The exhibition includes around 20 paintings from the artist's last period and will be exhibited in the hotel premises until November 30, 2023.

Inventive, restless and a master of color, Savvas Georgiadis presents with clarity, precision and simplicity the most recent work of his artistic career, creating his own reality with a particularly clear personal writing. The focus of his research and subject matter remains the oversized human female figure. Realist with pop elements in his painting, he presents a whole world of
young modern women with explosive vitality and percussive skin in transition. Abstract models that do not define an era, do not communicate directly with the viewer and flood the painted surface with close-ups and distorting interventions. They march from the past and anxiously march towards the future threatening to breach the confines of the crate thus canceling their loneliness.

The soul of Georgiadis's painting is color, which has an almost metaphysical influence for him and is used to express intensity, power and passion. The artist uses ink with acrylic and oil on the canvas background in bold flat colors enhancing the black and white flesh of his models.

Strict in terms of the organizational process of composition, drawing and the use of intense colors from which the artist never deviates in this unit, he highlights psychographs by analyzing the immediacy of inner emotion and the fidelity of the Idea.

As Art Historian and curator of the exhibition Eleni Athanasiou reports "...In his work the star is the rich interiority, psyche, poetry and expressiveness of the artist which he highlights using modern female figures as models with the sole purpose of illuminating their souls and to recreate modern reality." and continues "...the portrait of Savvas Georgiadis was able to reinvent itself perfectly and, inspired by the artistic currents of the past and great creators such as Lucian Freud and Francis Bacon gave rise to new and original interpretations."
