Skoufa Gallery presents the new solo painting exhibition of Thanasis Makris entitled: "The Idols of Thanasis Makris".

The exhibition presents works, which the artist has created during the last years.

In his new series of works, Makris confronts his thoughts, feelings and experiences, capturing his inner world on canvas. The lone ships fighting fiercely against the beastly waves star in the artist's new exhibition. However, he does not fail to present the landscapes experienced for him, with small churches as a central theme.

As Lamprini Karakourtis mentions in the text accompanying the exhibition: "The object of the subject, whether a ship or a small church, functions as a dimension, whose height, length and distance have been removed, and what remains is the experience of volume, form .Space and form intertwine, and the use of color leads us to the essence of the subject, emphasizing the painter's intention of inner animating and understanding of the physical world in all aspects of Being. This mastery of the emotional world combined with touch activates from his relief strokes, he contributes to the autonomy of the act of painting... The totality of the works in the present exhibition demonstrates that the painting work of Thanasis Makris is not focused on depicting elements of landscape identity, but on his intention to represent a specific experienced landscape, pictorially interpreted."
