Andy Stott has progressed from producing high-quality dub techno to exploring unique and more adventurous strains incorporating hardcore techno, post-punk and dream pop - among other influences - that have evoked emotions ranging from dread to exhilaration.
A few years after making his full-length debut with Merciless (2006), Stott took a sharp left turn with Passed Me By and We Stay Together (both 2011), mini-albums descriptively (albeit humorously) billed as " knackered house".
This creative breakthrough helped fuel the British producer's distinctive subsequent albums, from the definitive Luxury Problems (2012) to Never the Right Time (2021), which mixed Alison Skidmore's atmospheric vocals with a host of sampled and processed vocals.
The electronic music artists call themselves Demdike Stare after a witch who was burned at the stake in the 17th century.
Sean Canty and Miles Whittaker can seem like good guys when one of them champions psychedelic folk label Finders Keepers - and the other, dubstep Pendle Cove. But don't be fooled.
The Manchester duo scared Lucifer himself with the dopeness of their debut Symbiosis (Modern Love, 2009), and more recently continued to draw dark beat fives on Passion (Modern Love, 2018) and Sketches of Everything (with Jon Collin ) (Modern Love, 2020).
