The Hellenic Youth Symphony Orchestra continues this year's series of performances at the Athens Concert Hall with a special chamber music concert. With the selection of works from the rich repertoire of the 19th century, the members of the Youth Orchestra in Residence of the Megaros highlight the great value of this demanding musical genre performed by small groups of collective action, cultivating and sharpening the reflexes of each soloist.
In the warm atmosphere of the Dimitris Mitropoulos Hall, on Saturday 20 May at 20:30, the young musicians of the ensemble present two fascinating works of early German Romanticism, which the public rarely has the opportunity to enjoy. These are the highly popular and sophisticated Nonetto in F major for flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, bassoon, violin, viola, cello and double bass by Louis Spohr and the String Octet in E flat major by Felix Mendelssohn [ Felix Mendelssohn], an impressive composition with an intensely dynamic character.
The preparation of the ELSON musicians is undertaken by Giorgos Demertzis, the internationally recognized violin virtuoso and founder of the famous New Hellenic Quartet, who has also developed an important musical educational activity inside and outside the Greek borders.
