Magnetic Fields return to Europe in November 2023, continuing a "retrospective" tour with songs spanning their three-decade career. Having introduced their work to several new markets and returning to some of their favourites, the band will bring intimate, orchestral arrangements, including material from their iconic triple album 69 Love Songs.

Singer/songwriter Stephin Merritt will be joined by Magnetic Fields members Sam Davol, Shirley Simms, Chris Ewen and Anthony Kazynski.

This tour also celebrates the May 2020 release of the band's 12th album, Quickies, on Nonesuch records. Quickies is a beautifully crafted album of 28 sly, funny, little songs, each lasting between 0:17 and 2:35. Merritt states that the idea for Quickies was developed while he was in the studio recording his multi-disc autobiographical record, 50 Song Memoir: "I didn't have anything to do at night, so I basically scribbled and wrote a lot of little things that seemed complete on their own ". The result is a perfect specimen, as Michael Hill writes: "bursts of melody and lyrics that outline dreams and desires, amorous reveries and wishful thinking."
