About

The archaeological museum presents the "Ancient Thermophores" until July 31, 2023.

After dozens of wonderful objects presented so far, the archaeological museum welcomes the "ancient thermophores". It is a set of clay vessels for therapeutic use, dating from the end of the 3rd to the 1st century. e.g. and they come from Athens, Chalkida, Tanagra and other regions. These objects, which for years were characterized as ordinary flasks, were recognized as the paraphernalia of doctors, athletes and pharmacists of antiquity. The strange shapes and the special way of making them made them suitable for the relief of various ailments in different parts of the body.

The "ancient thermophores" are presented in the "Altar Hall" (no. 34) from Tuesday, May 23 to Monday, July 31, 2023.

On June 11 and 25, July 9 and 23 on Sunday, as well as on June 7 and 28 and on July 5 on Wednesday, at 1:00 p.m., archaeologists from the Museum welcome visitors to the exhibition area and talk with them about ancient healers, methods and secrets of ancient healing, from prehistoric times to the end of antiquity.
