Chico Freeman represents and personifies one of the most dynamic, melodious, comprehensive and shocking saxophones in jazz.
It is a living chapter of the active history of American jazz while its artistic goals lie – in many cases – far beyond the jazz mainstream and extend to various musics of the world. But Chico Freeman incorporates in his sound, playing and music the whole of jazz history: from the blues and Coleman Hawkins to John Coltrane and Latin jazz.
