The contemporary series of exhibitions THF Raw, of the B. & M. Theocharakis Foundation, presents the solo exhibition of the visual artist Despina Charitonidi, entitled "Ways to lose energy", curated by Odette Kouzou.

In the exhibition, a poetic relationship is built between the energy produced by the sun and the ways in which it becomes exploitable. The works of Despina Charitonidi raise questions about the production and loss of energy, commenting on human intervention, as well as man's attempt to dominate nature. The visual language he uses is expressed through sculpture, site-specific installations and performative works. Using natural elements – such as gold, metals and clay – as building materials, he renegotiates the material and conceptual relationships between them. In her works we find concepts such as fragility, weight, fall, balance, as well as conditions, such as power relations, which intensify the dichotomy between man and nature. Charitonides, perceiving this dichotomy as imaginary, criticizes the anthropocene era and, by extension, human aggression towards nature.
