On the occasion of the celebration of International Museum Day 2023, with the theme "Museums, Sustainability and Quality of Life", the G. Gounaropoulos Museum will present the following program:

• Wednesday, May 17, 11:00-12:30
Touching the art. Event in collaboration with the Lighthouse of the Blind of Greece.
For the first time, the Museum attempts an opening to a new audience group, the visually impaired. The reason for the action was the marble sculptures of Andreas Bernardakis, which are included in the periodic exhibition +senses. In addition, especially for this purpose, two works by Giorgos Gounaropoulos from the Museum's permanent collection were reproduced in relief form, by the specialized Printing Department of the Greek Lighthouse for the Blind. Thus, participants will have the opportunity to feel and enjoy Gounaro's lyrical, curvilinear monochords.
The action, which is expected to continue, will contribute to the reduction of the Museum to a field accessible to people with vision problems and, by extension, to the upgrading of their quality of life, something that has always concerned Museums and Culture bodies in Greece and abroad.
Participation in the event will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Guided tour of the periodical exhibition + senses by Dionysia Giakoumis.
The artists Theodora Vassiliadou, Lefteris Veletzas, Andreas Bernardakis, Irini Karymbali, Elena Leoni and Prodromos Charalambidis participate in the exhibition.
