Duo Xoria Gallery presents the exhibition "Spleen" by Laure Mary {Couégnias}, the artist's second solo presentation at the gallery. In "Spleen", Laure Mary invites viewers to momentarily escape from reality and immerse themselves in a dreamscape, as if on a carefree walk in an imaginary and extremely familiar place.

Setting the tone of the exhibition, the artist herself notes:
"At this moment begins a contradictory and fleeting walk, on a road that leads nowhere, in search of a cheated shore.
One can hear the transparent cry – friend of silence – that protects the leeward spaces.
In this meteoric and immobile deluge where oblivion evaporates, the slippery ways of the interlocutors exhaust the fiery energy of the dreamers.
The meeting point in a secret realm, where the soul seeks a supreme truth, leaves no leisure for the fulfillment of those who belong.
Life is drunk with the water of a river without memory.
This moment is perfect, don't wake up..."

Laure Mary is an artist with a unique approach. She begins her creative process by writing poems and translating them into visual masterpieces, masterfully incorporating techniques inspired by classical European painters. Drawing influences from well-known surrealists, he masterfully depicts everyday scenes and landscapes through the interplay of light and shadow, echoing the subtle nuances found in Dutch painting. Beyond their aesthetic appeals, her works perceptively delve into the subject of individual loneliness and the perpetual search for inner peace and connection with others.

In the context of "Spleen", LaureMary's oil paintings insist on embodying her distinctive surrealist approach, which evokes the enigmatic puzzles of Magritte, where familiar objects and places are rearranged in unconventional and provocative compositions. Notably, the artist deviates from her established style in these recent works, introducing human figures and origami designs into her compositions.

The exhibition's color palette includes deep grays, blues and pinks, recalling the atmosphere of Steve McQueen or Mike Lee films and reproducing the atmosphere of "Spleen", i.e. melancholy. Although the initial tone may seem bleak, LaureMary chooses to look at life through rose-colored glasses, offering a poetic perspective that opens the way to a magical realm full of hope and dreams.
