The Breeder presents for the first time in Greece the solo exhibition of the up-and-coming painter Lyn Liu (b. 1993, China) based in New York, entitled Mocking Game.

Drawing from her personal experience of displacement, Lyn Liu creates a universe of symbolic, often absurd images that reflect everyday situations through a cinematic lens. In her works, reality resembles a sequence of frozen frames that depict the inner psychological landscape of the individual and at the same time the social field emphasizing the tensions between the two as well as internally.

For her exhibition at The Breeder, Lyn Liu explores the conceptual dipoles of individual and collective, subject and object, alienation and assimilation through nine pairs of paintings. In each pair one work centers around the idea of the subject, the entity capable of producing experiences and perceptions, and the other around the object, the entity affected by the subject.

Lyn Liu was born in Beijing, China and lives in New York. He mainly deals with painting, engraving and independent publications. He received an MFA from Columbia University School of the Arts, New York in 2022 and a BFA from the School of Visual Arts, New York in 2016. He also attended the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, Paris, from 2017 to 2020. The first her solo exhibition with New York's Kasmin Gallery, Dogville, took place in 2022.
