The State Orchestra of Athens welcomes Holy Week at the Byzantine and Christian Museum.

On Holy Monday, April 10, the Quintarco String Quintet (Nikos Mandylas – violin, Marina Charalambidou – violin, Enkela Kokolani – viola, Vania Papadimitriou – cello, Takis Kapogiannis – double bass) collaborates with the altophonist Sofia Kyanidou in a program that musically expresses the spirit of contemplation before the Resurrection. The program opens with the heartbreaking Attaggio by the American Samuel Barber, a work that for many is the ideal musical expression of mourning. Afterwards, the overwhelming Stabat Mater by Luigi Boccherini will be heard, which captures the lamentation of the Virgin Mary for the Crucifixion of the God-Man.

At 19:00, one hour before the start of the concert, there will be a free guided tour of the periodical exhibition: "The religious work of Polycleitos Rhegus". The tour will be conducted by the curator of the exhibition and Art Historian Ioanna Alexandris and the Archaeologist and Head of Exhibitions, Communication & Education of the Museum Fr. Periandros Epitropakis.
