Greece and Romania are presenting an exhibition of diplomatic documents at the Byzantine & Christian Museum to mark the 140 years of Greek-Romanian diplomatic relations, the Hellenic Foreign Affairs Ministry announced.

The exhibition, originally planned for the 140th anniversary in 2020, was postponed due to the pandemic. It is organized by the diplomatic archives of the two countries' Foreign Affairs Ministries and the Romanian embassy in Athens.

Comprising documents from both foreign ministries' diplomatic & historical archives, the exhibition highlights important moments in the history of Greek-Romanian diplomatic and consular relations, it was noted in the Greek ministry's announcement.

The establishment of the first Greek consular authority in Bucharest in 1834, the accreditation of the first ambassadors in Athens and Bucharest in 1880 and the completion of establishing diplomatic relations, are among the key moments presented in the exhibition.

The exhibition will be at the Byzantine & Christian Museum from July 1st through July 15th (inauguration ceremony on evening of July 5th), and visiting hours will be Mondays-Sundays 08:00-20:00, except for Tuesdays, when it will be open 13:00-20:00.
