Vassilis Karras (née Vassilis Kesoglides) was born in Kokkinochori, Kavala, and in 1969, at the age of 16, made his first musical appearance at the night club "Prosfygas", while at the same time working as a car mechanic.

There he started his professional career with many records going gold and platinum.

He collaborated with many old and new lyricists and composers such as Dimitris Rakitzis Foivos, Giorgos Theofanous, Alekos Chrysovergis Spyros Giatras, Evi Droutsa, Panos Falaras, Christos Dantes, Kyriakos Papadopoulos, Ilias Filippou, Michalis Hatzigiannis, Christos Nikolopoulos and others.

In 2023, Vassilis Karras had not appeared live on the set of any show, however, he had made a telephone intervention on "Fame Story" hosted by Nikos Koklonis.

The well-known folk singer had gone on a live phone call and said:

"Good Evening. Good evening everyone... Thank you very much, Nikos, for your hospitality, but I want to thank all the Greek people and all my connections, for their interest and love. What love is this? What a beauty; I am by your side, as are you... Thank you very much. May God give us strength, be strong and see each other."
