4 members of ferry crew detained for 36-year-old man's death in Piraeus port
4 members of the crew of the Blue Horizon ferry have been arrested, after the videos posted on social media showing what happened. 2 people, the deck officer and the master, have been arrested for the case.
The authorities are taking testimonies from everyone while the port authority has received pre-investigative material, as well as the relevant videos.
The ship had initially departed for Heraklion, but with a prosecutor's order returned to the port of Piraeus, in order to take statements from the passengers and the crew.
The management of the Attica Group, which owns the ship, in a statement said that it was shocked by the tragic incident that took place in the port of Piraeus, adding that it is cooperating with all competent authorities for the full clarification of the incident.
The crew of Blue Horizon changed and departed late at midnight for its destination.
"I express my sadness for the tragic incident in the port of Piraeus in which one person lost his life. All the necessary actions are being taken by the Piraeus Port Authority to shed light on the case and assign responsibility," Hellenic Shipping Minister Miltiadis Varvitsiotis said in a post on social media.
