Public Notice: New fraud with Attica Highway tolls

A new method has been discovered by criminal elements to once again attempt to deceive citizens. This time through the Attica Highway tolls.
A new method has been discovered by criminal elements to once again attempt to deceive citizens. This time through the Attica Highway tolls.

This new way is intended to empty our bank accounts.

This new combo set up is mainly done via SMS to your mobile phones.

The SMS that reaches the unsuspecting user asks him or her to pay some "pending toll" for the Attiki Odos E-Pass, while another message claims that the user owes 2.80 Euros to the Attiki Odos and even asks him to pay it ASAP (as as soon as possible).

Usually the SMS that appears is in Greek, but the person who wrote it certainly doesn't seem to know Greek, and the message is written in a language that immediately arouses suspicion.

Within the SMS there are also various links which apparently lead to pages through which the initiators of this fraud will try to steal your sensitive personal data.

Of course, the user receiving such a message should under no circumstances open this link.

It is expected the competent services of the Hellenic Ministry of Citizen Protection to take the necessary actions to stop this new internet fraud.
