Attica Region shuts down four public parks during heatwave
4 public parks or groves in Athens run by the Attica Region have shut down on Wednesday and will remain closed as long as temperatures are very high, by order of Regional Director Giorgos Patoulis.
4 public parks or groves in Athens run by the Attica Region have shut down on Wednesday and will remain closed as long as temperatures are very high, by order of Regional Director Giorgos Patoulis.
They include Metropolitan Park 'Antonis Tritsis' (in Ilion), Pedion tou Areos Park (near the National Archaeological Museum/Alexandras), Finopoulos Hill (Gyzi), and Attiko Alsos (Galatsi).
The closures are meant to protect both the public and the parks from the high threat of fire as temperatures are expected to register very high.
All events at the Attiko Alsos Theater 'Katina Paxinou' are also cancelled.
