"Magic" Sakkari in the "4" of Berlin
The first victory of the Greek champion (No. 6 in the world) against Russia (No. 12 in the WTA) after 4 consecutive defeats on the tour (all on clay) came in the most emphatic way in the German capital with the 26-year-old prevailing 2-0 (6-0, 6-3) and to solemnly get the "ticket" for the "4" of the tournament.
About a month ago, Sakkari led Kasatkina 1-0 in the Madrid tournament, but the Russian found a way to react and prevailed with a 2-1 upset. It was her 4th consecutive victory over the top tennis player of all time in Greece and this one on the ground, like the previous 3.
On the grass, however, Sakkari proved who the "boss" is and in view of Wimbledon she showed that she is on a very good path.
She did not allow her opponent ... to breathe in the first set which she took with the extremely impressive 6-0, while in the second, although Kasatkina responded twice to the breaks of the 26-year-old and equalized to 3-3, from there on Sakkari increased her performance and with 3 consecutive games reached 6-3 and the victory with 2-0.
