With the "signatures" of Sakkari & Tsitsipas enter the "4" of United Cup in Sydney
More specifically, Greece and Croatia exhausted the margins, in the final of the United Cup in Perth, they claimed in the last match, i.e. in the mixed doubles, the qualification to the semi-finals in Sydney, with Maria Sakkari and Stefanos Tsitsipas being the last ones to smile! The top duo of Greek tennis prevailed 7-6(6), 6-4 of Petra Martic and Borna Goyo in the final match of the Perth final and Greece qualified, 3-2 over Croatia, in the United Cup quarterfinals, in Sydney.
Although in the first match of the Perth final between Greece and Croatia today (4/1), Despina Papamichael was defeated by Donna Vekic 6-2, 6-0, then Stefanos Tsitsipas managed to level the score at 1- 1. The Greek tennis player prevailed 6-0, 6-7, 7-5 against Borna Tsorits. This was followed by Sakkari's victory over Petra Partits 6-3, 6-3, to give Greece a 2-1 lead. But Croatia leveled at 2-2 when 18-year-old Stefanos Sakellaridis was beaten 6-4, 6-2 by world No. 144 Borna Goyo. Sakkaris and Tsitsipas... however, spoke at the end, with their victory in the mixed doubles and the Greek delegation travels to... Sydney.
The Hellenic delegation will fly to the capital of Australia, from Perth, on Thursday (5/1) and on Friday (6/1) the battle with the Italians will begin. At 11:00, on the day of the Holy Lights, Maria Sakkari will face Martina Trevisan. This will be followed by the match between Michalis Pervolarakis or Stefanos Sakellaridis with Lorenzo Muzzetti.
On Saturday (7/1) Papamichael-Bronzetti, Tsitsipas-Berettini and the mixed doubles will compete.
In the other semi-final pair (Poland-USA), the matches will be played between Swiodek and Pegula and immediately after between Michalski and Tiafou.
