Renewable Energy Sources (RES) recorded a new historical high in May 2023, participating by 48% - almost half - in the energy mix, while the production from lignite was only 5%, according to ADMIE's (Independent Power Transmission Operator) monthly data.

In a total of 21 hours in the past month (May 2023), RES exceeded 90% of the energy needs, and in fact for two consecutive days (6/5 and 7/5) green electricity generation exceeded (>100%) the total demand for 7 hours.

This once again confirms Greece's leading role in renewable energies in the European Union.
